Employee Wellbeing Product – me@mybest

The brief

me@mybest is B2B product that gives employees personalised insights into the factors affecting their wellbeing and the tools to help improve it. PSYT wanted to redesign their mobile app so that it was appropriate for a B2C market.

The app needed to allow users to track which factors impact their wellbeing and provide insights so that they can make improvements to their life. In addition to the measurement side of the app there would also be an intervention side in the form of mental and physical wellbeing tools.

Design Process

Agile Sprint Methodology

We used an agile sprint methodology, with close collaboration between design and development throughout the process.
I was the lead Product Designer and worked with the UX agency Hanno on product strategy.

Research

Competitor Analysis

As the product was being adapted for B2C I started by conducting a competitor analysis looking at popular apps in the areas of quantified self, meditation and exercise apps.

Empathise

User Journeys

User journeys were created to provide a visualisation of a user’s emotional experience – this enabled us to quickly spot areas for improvements.

Below is an example user journey for our primary persona.

Define

User Stories

User stories was created and used to inform the product backlog. They were labelled based on effort and expected impact – categorising them into:

    • Do now (low effort, high impact)
    • Make it a project (high effort, high impact)
    • Make it a task (low effort, low impact)
    • Later (high effort, low impact)

Redesign

Key Screens Redesign

One of the key objectives of the redesign was to increase user-engagement levels.  One way we did this was by changing the way users unlocked their insights.

Sleep screens

In addition to updating the visual design, I used the opportunity to improve the usability by condensing the three screens into one.

New features

Minis

We included minis – short practices to provide in-the-moment support.

Future Iterations

Courses

Below shows medium-fidelity wireframes of our course component for a future iteration.

Vice documentary

Collecting You is an original VICE documentary created in partnership with Sprint, which explores how using personal insights can help us live better.

The story centers around Pete Adams, a 26-year old creative looking to find himself in New York City. Over 35 days, Pete’s data was collected by our custom app, Mappiness 2.0, developed by PSYT, a London-based start-up that aims to improve well-being through technology.

The app tracked nearly 200,000 data points across a variety of themes including: emotions, sleep, relationships, activities, location, technology use and more.
